Teach-the-Teachers is an educational program offered by the Riverside Superior Court and its justice partners to teachers, administrators, and counselors throughout Riverside County each year.
The daylong, in-service seminars are offered free of charge to educators and take place in February at locations in Riverside, Indio, and Murrieta.
The program originated in the desert region in 2001, created by Justice Douglas Miller and several local attorneys. Early programs were offered to high school government teachers and focused on the trial courts and their function in the criminal justice system.
In 2005, the curriculum was changed to an overview of the juvenile justice system, featuring presentations by the offices of the district attorney and public defender and youth advocacy groups. The seminars feature a tour of the local juvenile court and juvenile detention facilities.
