Payment of Fines

The fine on a citation is the amount of money required to guarantee your appearance in Court. If you choose to pay the fine on the citation without going to trial, the citation is deemed paid, and the resulting violation will be reported to DMV if the violation is reportable.

Your citation or courtesy notice will provide you with a date and time to appear and/or pay your fine.  If you are unsure of the due date, you may search the court records online.  If you wish to make an appearing in the courtroom, the appearance must be made at the court location where you were cited to appear.  For those that wish to pay the fine, may do so by selecting one of the following options:

Pay Your Citation Online

You may pay your traffic citation in full, sign up for traffic school, or make payments on a case that is already set up with a payment arrangement.  If your citation includes any mechanical, registration, license or insurance violation and you are submitting proof of correction your fine cannot be processed online.

You may enter either your citation number, which is the entire number on the traffic citation/ticket, provided to you by law enforcement, or your case number which is the number on your bail quote and/or courtesy notice.

Pay Your Citation by Phone

You may pay your citation by telephone by using Visa, MC, American Express or Discover.    This option is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

You may enter either your citation number, which is the entire number on the traffic citation/ticket, provided to you by law enforcement, or your case number which is the number on your bail quote and/or courtesy notice. 

If you have already pled guilty and have made payment arrangements and wish to pay your monthly amount due OR pay your fine in full, you may pay with Visa, Master Card, American Express or Discover.  Please have your citation number and credit card information available.  You may also obtain the following information by phone:

The call is answered on the first ring. The caller is greeted with introductory messages in both Spanish and English prompting the caller to select from informational and instructional messages in the language of their choice. Callers then select from a menu of specific topics.

Pay Your Citation by Mail

By mail - check, money order, or credit card. Make checks payable to the 'Riverside Superior Court.' Write your citation number on the check or money order.  If paying by Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover complete the form on the back of your courtesy notice.

Pay Your Citation Using CheckFreePay Service

You may pay using CheckFreePay Service.  To pay in person, click here to find a retail location near you.   Bring cash and your courtesy notice showing the citation or case number.  Cost for service is $0.88 - $2.50 depending on location.  Please allow 1-3 business days, excluding holidays and weekends, for payment delivery to Riverside Superior Court.  Check with your retail location for more information. 

Pay Your Citation Using MoneyGram

MoneyGram has two convenient options for individuals to pay  traffic and criminal fines:

  • Walk in payments can be made at approximately 35,000 retail locations nationwide.  MoneyGram accepts cash and debit card payments at certain locations.  Call 1-800-MONEYGRAM to find a location and use receive code 7660 when making a payment. 
  • Online payments can be made to the court through MoneyGram using a credit card or debit card with the Visa / MasterCard logo.  Visit www.moneygram.com and select Pay Bills.  Enter the receive code 7660 and follow the instructions on the screen to complete the payment. There is a transaction fee ranging from $2.99 to $4.99 based on the transaction amount.

Pay Your Citation Through Your Personal Checking at Your Financial Institution

Online banking is available through your personal checking at your financial institution.  Please check with your financial institution for more information.

Payment Plans

Monthly Payment Plans are available.  A $35.00 administrative fee will be added to the total amount due.  To sign up for a Payment Installment Agreement, click here.

Payment plans are also available for traffic school requests.

    1. A $35.00 administrative fee will be added to the total amount due. 
    2. The total amount due must be paid within 90-days
    3. There is no grace period and no extensions will be allowed.
    4. The traffic school completion date will be set at 120 days.  No extensions will be granted on the traffic school completion date.
    5. If the payments are not paid by the date due, a civil assessment charge for failure to pay will be added to your case and you will be charged a civil assessment fee of $300.00.
