Civil eFiling

Civil eFiling

Pursuant to Code of Civil Procedure §1010.6 and the California Rules of Court, rule 2.253(b)(2), the Civil Division of the Riverside Superior Court is implementing electronic filing (eFiling). You can eFile documents 24/7 through an approved Electronic Filing Service Provider (EFSP).

Electronically filed documents can be filed until midnight on the day that the filing is due, and will be considered timely pursuant to Code of Civil Procedure section 1010.6(b)(3). The document is 'filed' at the date and time it is received by the court and the confirmation of receipt is created. See Cal. Rules of Court, Rule 2.259(a)(1). Any electronically filed document received by the Court on or after midnight will be file stamped on the next court day.

Pursuant to Local Rule 3118, eFiling is mandatory for parties represented by counsel and optional for self-represented litigants in civil cases. Certain documents are exempt from eFiling (see Documents Exempt From Electronic Filing).

There are no fees associated with filing a domestic violence or gun violence restraining order.

Many filed documents are viewable by the general public through the Court’s website and/or at the courthouse. It is the sole responsibility of the filer to ensure that confidential identifiers are properly omitted or redacted prior to transmission. [California Rule of Court, rule 1.201]
